About
General Articles of Faith
1. We believe that the Holy Scriptures called the Bible, The Old and The New Testament, is the written word of God, given by divine inspiration unto holy yet imperfect men who were moved by the Holy Spirit of God to reveal His will unto mankind. We believe that the Holy Scriptures are infallible and are the only authority for all church decisions regarding doctrine, reproof, correction, and direction, for it is the power of God unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (Matthew 4:4, Romans 1:16, Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12, I Peter 1:10, 11, and II Peter 1:20, 21).
2. We believe that there is one God: The Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit. We believe that God is Eternal, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, our Creator, and Savior. Thus, He is worthy of human worship, service, and adoration. (Genesis 1 & 2, Matthew 28:18-20, John 1:1-18, 5:19-47 & Chapters; 14; 15; 16; 17; and Revelation 22:13).
3. We believe that the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the only means of atonement for human sin. Those who believe in Him and accept His atonement shall receive His forgiveness and shall have everlasting life according to His will, for there is no other way by which a sinner can be redeemed and saved. Jesus is the only way to the Father. He is the Truth Incarnate and He is the Giver of life eternal. (John 3:15,16; 14:1-7, Acts 4:12, Romans 6:23,1 Timothy 3:3-5,1 Corinthians 15:13-58,1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
4. We believe that an individual must be born again of water and of the Spirit in order to enter the Kingdom of God and into communion with his body, the church. We believe that for those who can and are able, baptism by immersion of water is an ordinance of God’s church by which we recognize and accept the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ as the old man of sin must be buried and washed away so that the new man of righteousness may be born in Christ Jesus. The baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist is the pattern in which we do follow. Baptism by immersion is also an ordinance by which an individual may enter into fellowship as a formal member of Christ body, which is the church. (John 3:1 -8, Matthew 3:11-17, Mark 1:4-11, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:41,42 & 8:26-39, Romans 6:1-13, Colossians 2:12).
5. We believe that God has given men, women, and children in His church diverse gifts of the Spirit, for the edifying of His body, for the perfecting of the saints, and for the work of the ministry. The church is to encourage and help its members to recognize their spiritual gifts and allow them the opportunity to develop them during church service and in the community. All gifts should be nourished and enriched in harmony with the will of God for His church and by the careful guidelines of the Holy Scripture. (Romans 12, I Corinthian 12, Ephesians 4:1-15, 1, Timothy 3, and Titus 2).
6. We believe that the Law of God which are the Ten Commandments holy, just, and good for the health and well being of each individual, family and community. The keeping and teaching of these ten healthy principles of life in conjunction with the life and teachings of Jesus are able to maximize human joy and eliminate monumental problems and distress in the lives of individuals, families and society at large. The Ten Commandments are God’s healthy standards of reasonable judgment and righteous living as they reveal to us our duties toward God and fellowmen. However, given the feeble sinful nature of men, salvation, deliverance, and eternal life are gifts of God by grace through faith in the atoning love of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Exodus 20, Deuteronomy 5, Psalms 119:97-105, Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14, Matthew 5, Matthew 22:36-40, Romans 7, Ephesians 2; 1 John 2:1-7 & 3:1-5, Revelation 14:12 & 22:12-14.)
7. We believe that the church of Christ is a portrait of Jesus on earth, in truth, in decisions, and in humanitarian deeds of righteousness, for faith alone is dead without works of righteousness. (Matthew 5; 7:15-27; 11:29; 25:31-46, Luke 10:30-37, John 15:5, James 2:8-26, Revelation 22:12-16).
